“Then you’re not doing it the right way. Tie her to you and make her see you. If she doesn’t like what she sees, make her like it.”
“Then you’re a fucking loser and probably never deserved her in the first place.”
“As much fun as it’s been talking to you, I’m going back to my wife. She’s been asking about you, and this is a friendly reminder not to call her. If you do, I’m flying there and cutting out your tongue.”
I’m surprised Elsa asked about me in the first place. She doesn’t like me that much, always saying Aiden doesn’t need any more deranged friends.
She’s mumbling something in Russian, which means she’s probably dreaming about her childhood.
Every time I try to ignore the past and sleep with Reina, my brain summons my guilt and makes me relive that nightmarish day.
guilt. It’s able to eat you from the inside out and you get no chance to fight.
“I’m so sore, Ash.” She covers her head with the sheet. “Later, okay?” She must be exhausted from how many times I took her in one night, but this can’t wait.
“Do something about your stamina, dude.”
“Are you going to wake up or should I pour water on you?”
“Not that type of coming. Don’t even think about it, Ash. I mean it.”
I place her on the chair near the edge—the same edge she threatened to jump from not so long ago.
Even I don’t know how I look right now. All I know is this ends today.
Every. Fucking. Thing. Just like everything ended three years ago.
The school is five stories high; if she falls, she’ll fucking die.
“I…I told Reina I loved her. You know what she said?”
“She laughed at me and asked if I was serious. She said my brother and I are so fucking delusional and made fun of me. Why did she make fun of me?”
“You can’t fix it. You’re fucking in love with her. I can see it in your eyes no matter how much you try to hide it. How do you expect me to live with someone who made fun of my feelings while my brother is in love with her?”
“I won’t be anymore. I promise, Ari. I fucking promise, so come down.”
I’ll cut my heart to pieces and stomp on it if I get to keep Ari. She’s the only thing I have, the only person I can call family. I did everything to take care of her. If I lose her after Mom, I don’t know what will be left of my life.
“Then don’t forget this, Gray.” Her face turns stone-cold as the tears and sniffles and sobbing disappear.
“Make Reina pay for my death.”
And then she opens her arms wide and jumps backward, her dres...

Silent tears stream down my cheeks as I listen to Asher’s retelling of Arianna’s death.
His entire attention is on the edge where I stood and threatened to throw myself off not long ago. It’s like he can see his sister, as if she’s still there and he can catch her.
No wonder he’s hated me all this time. No wonder he planned to kill me. Arianna and her destructive lies have turned him into a killing machine, a hollow existence without a heart or a core.
“Do you see now? Do you see how you fucking ended mine and my sister’s lives?”
That’s the thing about Asher. Since Arianna’s death, he’s only survived on the thought that one day he’ll bring her justice by eliminating me.
“Fuck!” He releases me with a shove. “Don’t fucking tempt me, Reina. I’m this close to killing us both.”
“Because I can’t fucking live without you. I tried it and it was hell.”
“I think we’ve been both played.”
“I remember the day Arianna talked to me.”
“Yeah, I speak to your doctors.”
“Besides,” he continues, “that’s similar to how Ari told me she loved you the night before. Fuck.”
“Yes, depression mostly, but she had that type of behavior, the lying and scheming, but why the fuck would she kill herself if she made it all up?”
“What did you tell me?” I insist. “And don’t lie to me.”
“The exact words were, You’re fucking dead to me. Don’t let me see your face again.”
My fingers shake at the thought. Jason is also Cloud003. He befriended me, fucked me, and was there for me in the most convenient times.
“Yes, international, not domestic. There’s something liberating about moving freely between borders.”
“I told you, it’s for you.” He shakes his head. “I could’ve studied here, but I left because of you then I returned for the same reason. I hated you so much, you consumed me.”
“I had friends, Aiden and Cole. They’re a bit eccentric and they managed to keep my mind off things.”
“I like it better when you’re natural and uncut. Those masks will suffocate you one day. They’re not you.”
I fight the pull of tears as I gawk at him. How long have I waited for someone to tell me those exact words? Hell, how long have I waited for him to say anything similar to that?
“I just do, Reina. I know you.”
“I wore my engagement ring that night—where is it?”
Reina was trying on my engagement ring and it was a bit loose on her finger, so if she really was hurt or fell unconscious, the ring would’ve slipped off.
