“If you ever scare me again like that again, I will hunt you down and fucking kill you myself. You got it, lieutenant?”
When it came to dealing with the tough stuff, it was either shut down or make a fucking joke. I’d already spent two days staring at the wall, so it was well past time to move on to phase two.
It’s casual. We’re friends who find each other attractive. It’s fine. But as Solo came out of the restaurant with a to-go bag and drink carrier, looking more striking than anyone had the right to, I felt a sinking sensation in my gut that told me I might be falling for trouble.
“I think I’m starting to understand you a little.” “A little is way ahead of the curve.” “Because you keep everyone at arm’s length.” I interlaced our fingers, and when Panther lowered his eyes to where our hands were joined, I said, “Not everyone.”
“What the hell happened to you up there in that plane?” I nipped at his lower lip, and when Solo moaned and opened for me, I whispered, “I realized what’s important.”
“You’re not looking pissed off enough. Pretend I just said something horrible.” “That’s ridiculous.” “Your mom’s ridiculous.” I rolled my eyes. “What are you, ten?” “When I’m hard.” Solo waggled his brows as he finished the first set of reps. “But you already know that.”
“The only thing I would regret tomorrow morning was if I woke up and you weren’t there.”
