“We were all watchin’. About gave everyone a heart attack when you made that call. Man, I don’t think I’ve ever seen Solo lose it like that before.”
Panther, I’d appreciate it if you tried harder not to get killed. I can’t beat you if you’re dead. ~Solo
“IT’S ABOUT TIME you woke up. The whole ‘I’m unconscious’ bit was getting old, and I didn’t want to be known as the guy who won by beating an invalid.”
“I gotta say, I much prefer the way you looked the last time I saw you in a bed than this.”
“If you ever scare me again like that again, I will hunt you down and fucking kill you myself. You got it, lieutenant?”
“I know I’ve been tough on you, and I know what you think. But I’ve never been ashamed of who you are, Grant. You’re my son, and I just…” He seemed to lose his words and swallowed before meeting my eyes. “I don’t want things to be harder for you. That’s all.”
as Solo came out of the restaurant with a to-go bag and drink carrier, looking more striking than anyone had the right to, I felt a sinking sensation in my gut that told me I might be falling for trouble.
Hesitation’s for pussies. Fear? Same thing. And trust me, I’ve been in the sky with you and in bed with you, and you’re not a fucking pussy.”
“I see a man I wasn’t looking for. A man I didn’t even know was there, until right now. And Solo?” “Yeah?” “I can’t think of anywhere else I’d rather be than sitting with him in this car right now, holding his hand.”
“What the hell happened to you up there in that plane?” I nipped at his lower lip, and when Solo moaned and opened for me, I whispered, “I realized what’s important.”
Somewhere in the back of my mind, I had the thought that this was dangerous, that he was fire, and getting too close would get me burned.
Lips swollen and eyes glazed over, Solo had never looked sexier. Well, maybe he had when he was naked, but… “Brain caught up yet?” I said, grinning at the dazed look he gave me. “Brain…destroyed.”
“Like you said, I can’t think of anywhere I’d rather be than sitting in this car, sharing this meal, with a man I never knew I was looking for until today.”
“I didn’t want to.” “Care?” Panther nodded. “So what happened?” Panther smiled. “You did.”
“The only thing I would regret tomorrow morning was if I woke up and you weren’t there.”
“We need someone more than fearless. Someone you can fly with that can help you snap out of any anxiety you’re feeling. Someone like…” Oh God. He’s gonna say it. “…Solo.”
“So according to you, that means I get all of that under me later.” Panther raised his beer and took a swig. “If you’re lucky.” As I backed away from him, I grinned. “Don’t you know by now? I’m the luckiest motherfucker around.”
“So fucking sexy,” I said as I sucked the skin a little harder, licking up the water. “Everything about you is so fucking sexy, I don’t know how I keep my hands off you when you’re around.”
Being who we were, doing what we did…it was rare to want anything other than being on top. But with Panther, I was more than happy to be anyfuckingwhere he wanted me.
I didn’t understand how I’d gone so quickly from wanting to rip his head off to wanting to tear off his clothes, but once it happened, there’d been no turning back.
And yet a pair of beautiful brown eyes and a smart-ass mouth had managed to eclipse all of that.
“I want to be yours,” he whispered, and the possessiveness that flooded my body made my dick throb and my stomach flip. “You sure about that?” Panther nodded as I drew circles over his warm skin. “I’ve never been more sure of anything in my life.”
I found rules no longer applied. Don’t have sex with men in the military—broke that. Don’t fraternize with the competition—broke that one too. Don’t let your father know you're seeing a fellow pilot—blew through that one also. And don’t fall in love with the gorgeous pilot with the heartbreaker smile—was doing that right now.
