That happened to me after my trauma surgery & being in a coma, I was on life support which included being on a ventilator, they did exactly this, except they wanted to put the tube back in, but I was conscious & could feel it & after 2 tries they had to give it up as I just couldn’t swallow it down, it being the tube.
You have no idea how horrific of a feeling it is to try & let that tube go down your GI tract, I had another few botched attempts of this happening after having my subdural haematoma surgery & I now have severe PTSD about letting anything like this ever happen again.
