“I have a proposal for you.” “I’m not really looking to get married right now,” I taunted and he grinned demonically. “Not that kind of proposal. Although, now you mention it…” He smirked and I rolled my eyes.
Lance: What about the question before that then? Green or blue?
Lance: Blue means you like me.
I started laughing and heard Seth chuckle out in the corridor. In the video, he sprang onto the bed, looking like stripper Tarzan as he dove off of it and skidded across the floor on his knees right up to the camera.
“This better not be a freeze frame of your dick,” I muttered and he snorted as I took it from him. “You’d need a wide-angle lens to fit it all in if it was.”
'if you don't hear from me by 11:30, send this to the press'. Seth watched the whole time, making no move to stop me, then I tucked my Atlas into my pocket.
“You have to survive a week on your own on Fable Mountain in Northern Solaria.”
He gasped suddenly, resting a hand on his chest. “Oh thank fuck for that.” “What?” I asked in confusion. “Welcome to the pack, babe. You’re officially initiated.”
“I know you want to protect him from this but it isn’t your job,” he began. “It wasn’t your job to protect Clara either but you did all you could, didn’t you?” I asked. Lance’s jaw ticked. “Not enough.” “No. Not enough to save her from my father. And he didn’t even want her to die... what chance does Xavier have?”
And poor Xavier... he’s like the cutest fucking Pegasus I ever saw.” I ran a hand over my face and groaned. “If it wasn’t so goddamn serious it’d be hilarious.”
“Anyone would think you were embarrassed about luring students out to sneak around after dark with you in your secret cave,” I teased. “I’m mostly embarrassed it’s you,” he replied scathingly. “You’re not even hot.” “Bite me,” I joked. “Don’t tempt me.”
“You wanna lose two hundred and fifty House Points for disrespecting a teacher while breaking curfew?” he asked. “You wanna tell me if that’s a dagger in your pocket or if you’re just excited to see me?” I taunted. He flipped me off before turning away and shooting off towards Asteroid Place.
Roxy Vega might have been the most irritatingly rude and stubborn girl I’d ever met but she was fucking hot. And with the stupid games we played together while I was tutoring her in her fire magic I had to admit that I’d imagined her stripping for me more than once.
The ice kept thickening and I was shivering now too. If she didn’t snap out of this soon she could really hurt herself and it would be my fucking fault.
with her zipped through me but this was even more intense than usual because she wanted it. On some base level, at this moment in time, she fully trusted me.
I kept my leash on her magic intact as she slowly relaxed in my arms and released a juddering sob. She pressed her face to my chest and my heart leapt a little as she leaned into me like I was someone who could protect her.
Her hand shot out and caught my arm, her fingers gripping my bicep as I tried to pull away. “Don’t leave me,” she begged and I cleared my throat as I looked down at her.
“I won’t,” I replied as I shifted her against my chest and scooped her into my arms.
I hadn’t spent the last few weeks trailing her around campus to protect her from them just to quit now and leave her vulnerable.
“Phillip?” She looked at me like no one in the world was actually called Phillip and I had to admit I’d never met one. Dammit. Why did I pick that fucking name?
“You know,” Sofia said softly behind me. “Everyone says Darius Acrux is heartless and cold blooded just like the Dragon he turns into. But you’re not, are you?” I gave her a flat look over my shoulder but she carried on anyway. “You actually give a shit about other people, don’t you? You want to protect them, look after them…” Her gaze fell on the unconscious girl in my arms like that was proof and I growled at her.
I quickly used my water magic to pull every bit of moisture from her clothes and hair then pushed some warmth from my body into hers.
My heart thumped a little harder than usual and I cleared my throat uncomfortably as I lowered her down onto the bed.
Why did it have to be her? Why did I have to lust after one of the only people in the whole of Solaria who I could never have? I knew I was going to have to marry a Dragon Shifter one day but that didn’t stop me from having other women. But this one would never be mine in any way.
“Fuck, Roxy, I cant sleep next to you while you’re dressed like that,” I said, rolling her away from me more forcefully.
“Oh, sorry,” she mumbled before pulling off the unbuttoned shirt and throwing it to the floor. “Better?”
“You need to be putting more on, not taking things off,” I said tersely.
“Give me your shirt then,” she demanded, reaching out to pull at my black t-shirt. “I don’t think it will help if I start taking off my clothes too,” I said, catching her wrist to stop her. “You’re so fucking bossy,” she muttered, a bit of her usual fire rising to the surface. “Just do as you’re told for once.”
She laughed as she waved the shirt at me triumphantly, doing a little victory dance which meant she was grinding right against my hard-on and sending my body haywire.
She proceeded to steal my toothbrush like a goddamn animal and I leaned against the doorframe as I watched her, trying not to look at her ass too much as she bent forward over the basin but I was clearly failing at that.
A smile pulled at my lips in response to her comment. It might have been nice for my ego if she’d started declaring how attractive she found me, but in all honesty she just wouldn’t have been herself without her smart mouth. And I was beginning to realise that I might like that, and a few other things about her, just a bit too much.
“If you keep doing that I’m going to stop being a gentleman about this situation.”
“Please tell me we didn’t...” I couldn’t actually bear to say it but I had to know because my memory was turning up blanks. “I prefer my girls a little less blind drunk and a little more eagerly responsive,” he replied. “Besides, you wouldn’t forget it if I’d fucked you.”
At his words, I noticed the feeling of his magic coiling around mine where it had obviously been all night. He hadn’t actually pushed it to merge with mine but it was dancing along the edges of my power as if it was asking to join it. On instinct I let the barrier around my power drop, welcoming his in.
Darius released a breath of laughter and I inched back a little, moving so that my head was on the pillow beside his instead of resting on his chest. He rolled towards me, moving onto his side and shifting so that his hand rested on my bare thigh. He didn’t move his hand once it landed there but the heat of his touch was burning through me like magma.
“I wouldn’t have touched you while you were wasted like that,” he said, his gaze travelling over my face and landing on my mouth. But I’m not wasted now... I reached out slowly and pressed my palm down on his chest so that I could feel his heart pounding to the same fierce tune as my own.
He wrapped his arm around me more tightly, stopping me from rising. “Don’t go,” he breathed and there was a strange kind of plea in his voice.
I managed to sit upright and Darius pushed himself up too, catching my hand as I started to scramble backwards, having every intention of getting the hell out of here. “Tell me about it,” he begged. “Don’t just leave.”
“During that training, my father did a thousand things to me to make me face my fears. He’d make me walk through fire, jump from cliffs, lock me in tight spaces, beat me, drown me, whip me, pretty much anything and everything he could think of so that he could forge me into a man who showed no fear. It’s what we do. It’s who we are.”
“Well congratulations,” I muttered as I backed up, my hand closing on the door handle. Yep, I was abandoning my clothes because there was no way in hell I was staying here for another second. “Now you’re just like him.”
I almost tripped over the pile of folded clothes sitting outside my door and my heart pitter-pattered as I snatched them up. I quickly switched out the stilettos for my pumps, trying not to think too much about the Dragon who’d returned my things.
I needed coffee, Darcy and coffee in that order.
Half a smile tugged at his lips but I looked away from him, jogging straight for the stairs to escape before the Hell Week assholes could come at me again. “Let her go,” Darius’s voice followed me out and heat raced down my spine but I refused to even wonder why he’d done that.
His heated mouth on my flesh and the way I was pressed right into the arc of his body sent electricity skittering through my veins. A noise left my lips that was bordering on sexual and I was just glad the whole class were still chattering loud enough not to hear it. My free hand lay flat against his chest and the solid thumping of his heartbeat drummed against my palm.
Orion cleared his throat, a mischievous grin pulling at his lips as he wrote today's inspirational quote on the board. YOU ARE ALL A BUNCH OF HORNY TEENAGERS.
“Please tell me this isn't a sex ed class,” I said under my breath. “This is sexual education for Fae,” Orion announced and I sank lower, wishing I could use my air magic to turn myself into a breeze and slip out the window. Of all the professors to teach this, why did it have to be him?
I glanced out from behind my hand and found Orion barely concealing a grin as he looked my way.
“This is so not good for my hangover,” Tory groaned quietly and Orion whipped around to face her. “Hungover, Miss Vega?” he growled and she sighed, realising her mistake. “Yes, sir. If you fancy sending any of your healing magic this way, that would be swell.”
