Michael Gerson sought to lead evangelicals out of “temptation,” warning that President Trump’s “tribalism and hatred for ‘the other’ stand in direct opposition to Jesus’s radical ethic of neighbor love.” Quoting Matthew 6, columnist Cal Thomas reminded evangelicals that “No one can serve two masters,” and he challenged Christians to choose their true master, Jesus or Trump: “They can’t serve both.”
