They get a generous donation, and we get the worst of the worst. “Raped and murdered ten little girls,” Dad replies, voice tight with disgust and righteous anger. We may be monsters, but even we have morals, though they may be somewhat skewed. Hurting little girls? Hurting anyone defenseless? That’s a big no-no in our metaphorical book.
