We all have the same 24 hours in a day, and someone out there is swimming under a waterfall, learning how to juggle or strumming their favorite song on an acoustic guitar and you are not.
Take a two-minute break three times per day and do any of the following suggestions: Cloud, star or moon gazing Shake it all out and do a quick stretch Close your eyes and notice smells around you (works well in a café) Look up from your screen and gaze out at the view (this is good for your eyes too) Step outside, feel the sun on your skin and listen for the sounds of what is around you (birds, insects, traffic, talking, etc)
If you can’t get to sleep, do an alphabet appreciation exercise: think of something you are grateful for starting with A then B etc – believe me, you won’t make it to Z
If we took time to savor, play and appreciate, even in short intervals during the day, we would allow ourselves to properly rest as we have already given ourselves what we truly crave – the nourishing activities that bring us love, fun and energy. As inspirational speaker and trainer, Alexander Den Heijer says: “You often feel tired, not because you've done too much, but because you've done too little of what sparks a light in you.”
