我們人類在睡眠方面真的是特別的。相較於舊世界猴和新世界猴,以及如黑猩猩、紅毛猩猩和大猩猩等大猿,人類的睡眠真的獨樹一格。我們睡眠的總時數比其他靈長類明顯短得多(相較於其他靈長類的十到十五小時,我們只睡八小時),然而有不成比例的大量快速動眼睡眠,也就是做夢的階段。我們的睡眠時間中,大約20%到25%是快速動眼睡眠,但其他靈長類平均只有9%!相較於其他猿猴,我們睡眠和做夢時間的數據成了異數。
