I started convincing myself that I wasn’t really trans; I was just a socially awkward girl who had fallen off track.
Some transpeople will unnecessarily cut themselves off from their families because they are fearful of confronting them . . . Family members may be the most difficult to approach because losing them would be the greatest loss so we impose that loss on ourselves rather than have it visited upon us.
People say they were absolutely sure about their gender and need to transition because that helps underscore the point that being trans isn’t a choice, which it isn’t, but that doesn’t mean it’s not a difficult thing to parse out and accept about yourself.
