I’m not holding back next time. I’m going to give her my monster too, damn it. All of me. Make her my fucking bride the way he’s made her his mate.
He’s occupied her like the selfish prat he is ever since.
“She just left and you plan to go to her so soon?” I ask the annoying brute, who is definitely way out ahead of me now.
His hand is steadying me immediately, as he steps out behind me. “I’ll hold you while you sleep. I like that. You like that. Winners all around,” he quips as he quickly puts a towel around me.
My love for you has turned me completely into your monster.
my—er…the baby.
Who knew the ruthless vampire wanted to be a father?
It’s the weirdest domestic moment—a vampire alpha and a Simpleton pureblood omega with an impossible shifter/vampire baby, who has a hearty appetite for immortal blood, all lying together like one big family.
“Easy, sweet monster. The lad is certainly safe with me. Not even Idun would be so foolish as to hurt an infant. It’s against the universal law. One I had put in place, and was easily agreed with by the majority vote. It’s why the lad’s mother even got to survive to begin with. Children are a coveted thing among those who live forever with no hope of bearing their own.”
“If I hadn’t fallen in love with you that first day you spotted me, as Vance drugged you and painted your toes, I would have fallen for you the day you threw yourself at my feet and freely gave me your throat—without one ounce of regard to the personal cost to yourself—to break a curse that has tormented me for centuries,” he says on a quiet breath, eyes intently on mine.
“You’ve completely surrendered to me once. I really loved it, Violet. I want it again,” he whispers as he leans in close and runs his lips along the skin of my throat.
“If you want me on my knees, I’ll happily get on them for you right now. But what I want is that surrender. I’m already your monster. I want you to be mine in return.”
Fortunately, he’s gone when a crazy-girl smile stretches across my lips. It’s always inconvenient when I smile about things that normal girls shouldn’t smile about. I’ll blame it on the fucked up monster inside me.
There’s no more disturbing sight than seeing Arion play father to a shifter child.
“She’ll still be ours,” he says, interrupting me, while not taking his eyes off Jasper. “She made my heart beat again, and for the first time in ages, it didn’t feel so much like a damning nightmare. It doesn’t matter what purpose she has. She’s still going to be my Flame, and I’ll protect her to my dying breath.”
“I exhausted myself to keep her from feeling any pain. Does that make me your favorite new son-in-law?” Damien drawls from the bed, as he tucks Jasper against his side.
“I think you’d be a cute little monster family. Even you, Grandma!” Anna adds in a gleeful tone.
“What’s on your mind, wolf? Are you thinking about more kibble for your empty pit-hole stomach or is there something of importance you’d like to share with the rest of the class?” I ask to break up the intensity.
Arion cuts his gaze at us, a slow smile curving his lips, as though he’s realizing we’ve finally caught on to his future plans. This psychotic vampire really does want to start a family.
“Let’s go see your future daddy’s favorite beta and see what needs done around the place,” Arion adds.
“Where the hell are you going to fit?” I ask on a tired breath, as Damien shrugs and starts slipping out of his own clothes. “Looks like she needs something to sleep on top of,” he notes. Arion moves in a blur before I can, and Damien curses, as the smirking vampire ends up under Violet like a full-body pillow. “Excellent suggestion,” Arion states, as Violet tucks her head under his chin. “I run cold, like her, so it makes more sense for it to be me she’s on.”
“You can still be mad at me and fuck me, sweet monster. I can assure you I’ll enjoy it as much as you, and I’ll still work very hard to get back in your good graces,” he murmurs against my throat.
“I’ll make you my bride, Violet Carmine. And when I do, you’ll love every fucking second of it. You have a month to adjust to that warning before I make it a reality. Find a way to make peace with that,” he says before he practically vanishes, leaving my mind rushing after the really crazy shit he just said like it wasn’t a big deal.
His smirk deepens, as though he’s enjoying the wolf stirring so close to the surface. “I’ll give you the world if you ask it. I’ll give you anything you ever desire. That mark is as much my surrender as it is yours,” he goes on, his lips ghosting mine. “I should have known I’d never be able to fight you for long, because I couldn’t stay away, no matter how hard I tried. And I certainly tried.”
Mate. My mate. I have a mate. I’m essentially married, and it’s to Emit. The guy who first made me feel okay about being a monster.
One blowjob, and suddenly his head can’t fit in a room.
My office door slams shut behind me, and I whirl around, spotting Dorian Gray. Breath catching in my throat as uneasiness travels up my spine, I stumble back a step in surprise. With a dark, somewhat terrifying smile, he takes a step toward me, lips twitching as he says, “It’s about time we finally had a moment alone.”
