“Yes … Even though those wounds were technically mine. I had already disposed of Wert and taken his place.”
OHHHH! That’s how he was dead but alive in book 3.(old)
Yup. Ophala thinks so far ahead and knows what everyone will do that she is more of a prophet then Rehn. Also she is the orchestrator of everything. (new)
“Well, that wasn’t the only reason for my visit. I did a bit of bartering with Grand Director Poicus. Fearing for Phesaw’s safety, he requested an ancient better suited for battle. Thus, I brought him a cane that could deal immense damage.” “That’s where he got that from,” Himitsu said. “When I flew over the campus on Gale, I saw him fighting Storshae. He was creating fissures in the land.”
“You know the nature of my job, Horos,” she whispered with narrowed eyes. “I divulge information in a methodical way. I needed a genuine reaction from you since there were a few Dev servants on that street. They definitely noticed you, and they would have realized the truth if your reaction hadn’t been authentic.” Horos shrugged. “I could have acted traumatized.” “You’re a terrible actor,” she said flatly, “which is why you’re an assassin, not a spy.”
When she looked toward Himitsu, his red cheeks said enough. She peered at Horos again. “You mean that ruse where you two pretend to be lovers?” “You mean that wasn’t the first time?” Himitsu gawked. “Of course not,” she said. “It’s the only time he can play a role properly. He seems to be most comfortable when he and his boyfriend pretend to be cuddle-buddies.” Horos straightened up, folding his arms. “You’re just jealous.” He paused and smirked. “Fine … I’m over it.”
I wield lightning and possess an intellect far beyond most. The two exceptions lie with those known as Mialo, King of Minds, and Dimiourgos, King of Ethos. Their intelligence greatly surpasses anything I’ve ever seen. Alas, Dimiourgos is no longer with us, for he disappeared roughly a decade ago. Some say he was bested by Stonebody, King of Brutes.
Bryson, catching the unmistakable sound of the piano, craned his neck, looking every which way for the source of the music. He eventually located it high above on a balcony that encircled the ballroom. He hadn’t played since Jilly’s funeral, and he’d keep it that way.
Wait
I just hd a thought
Since Jilly is good enough to be a Bozani, if she is, would she be Leon Kawi's Branian if he has one?
“I know all of you have been keeping track of my progress,” Toono said. “I have one sacrifice left, and it must be someone powerful who possesses Intel Energy. You may wonder why I’ve decided to announce this to you. Is it perhaps to cause you to overthink your next move? Either way, the fact remains that I know my next move, and your indecisiveness will likely render anything you do unsuccessful. Will you come to me or will you bunker up in your capitals? Now begins a game of cat and mouse in which neither side wants to assume either role.”
“But L.K. is my child,” he said. “Am I supposed to be so selfless that I risk my life for the world rather than stay alive to protect my son?” “Which is more important?” she asked. “Your child or the world?” He balked. “Obviously my child.” “The world.” She turned back toward the carriage. “Without it, what would you give your son?”
“Venustas described it as a killing of passion,” Vitio said. “She believes there was something deep-seated behind that murder, and it wasn’t done by Toono, but by a companion of his.” “So this companion had ties with the general,” an elder said. “More important, since when can fire burn clean holes into someone’s body?” a woman asked. “The way this is explained … fire doesn’t seem possible.”
Great, another volatile vessel, Lilu thought. For people who had been licensed weavineers for decades, they showed an awfully high level of incompetence. She refused to believe that she, Gracie, Frederick, and Limone—each of whom varied in age from twenty-one to twenty-four—were more capable of building these beasts than the seasoned veterans.
“I want to speak with a boy named Raul Sanchia,” Kaylee said. “Do you have his file?” The secretary began digging through cabinets. He retrieved a manila folder and handed it to her. She poked through it. “He’s on a field trip?” “Yes, the ten-year-olds departed to Accus Canyon yesterday. They’ll return in three days if you’d like to wait.”
“He can understand humans?” Sal asked. “After decades of working with my mother, yes. He’s learned the Sphairian language.” “Fascinating,” Kaylee said. “Now if we could only get it to talk.” Sal frowned. “Please don’t. That’d be weird.” Himitsu smirked at the thought of a talking animal. He wished they had met Meow Meow.
He chuckled to himself. Out of the Of Five tales, the First of Five was the most unimaginable. Redirecting an incoming meteorite? Yeah, right. Sure, Gatal hadn’t been the one to do it, but he had supposedly done the impossible task of summoning Magnifica, a female Bozani of some unknown rank, to act on his behalf. He wasn’t a royal firstborn, so he shouldn’t have been able to achieve this feat. The fairy tale credited the phenomenon to his religious past.
“I don’t know what I believe,” she said. “But I’ve read a lot of books, a few cruelly-drawn almanacs from days past. Do you know the one constant about the maps depicting the Light Morality Kingdom during the first two centuries?” “No.” “There was no canyon,” she said. “This area had been farmlands and scattered villages, the main city being Balle.”
She wished there could have been some other way. Witnessing Jilly’s death and Toshik’s suffering should have struck a chord of deep regret within her, but it only fueled her flame. She may have killed Jilly, but he was equally responsible. For that, she’d kill him.
And they’re furious with each other. I wonder who will win.(old)
Jilly would sacrifice herself for anyone.(new)
The way Tonitrua told her story perturbed him to no end. While he had learned a lot of intriguing information about certain Originators and their essences, she had yet to mention the mystery of Earth once. Also, she didn’t speak much on this thing she was chasing. The closest she had gotten to this topic was her mentioning of a structure with no boundaries on an island at the center of the sea, but that had felt like a teaser for a bigger revelation. Perhaps she’d speak more on it later. The obvious possibility for what she had described was the Warpfinate. And if that was the case, he would

Mialo was pitching a proposition, one that was frightening enough to put the Originators on edge. Speculation consumed me following this news. What could the man have been suggesting that would give immortal beings such as myself a reason to cower? Was it the promise of a powerful alliance or the threat of war? He was crossing into the Light Realm after all, and while there have been hundreds of wars fought within the realm, there had never been one that spanned across both.
“We all know the significance of tonight’s act,” the man said. “The three starring roles, as well as a fourth character, depict boys who once lived in this very town as best of friends at a young age. It was just after the death of Dev King Rehn and before the arrival of Mendac LeAnce to our small town. Tonight, you will witness a story of betrayal unlike any other. We ask that following its conclusion, the crowd remains calm. We understand a tale such as this can rile up certain emotions … especially for those of us who once knew these boys.”
