A pod of massive whales neared the ship, the upper halves of their bodies exposed above water. Atop the head whale stood an indestructible woman, her grand staff Marigium in hand. It seemed not even the sea could claim Gray Whale.
As the traveler neared the village, his qualities became more distinctive. Her jaw dropped. She only knew him by association, for she had never talked to him. She couldn’t even remember his name, though it was on the tip of her tongue. He was young … sixteen, perhaps. His long hair was tied in a red bun atop his head, like a flame atop a torch. He wore ragged, holey clothes, his tunic a dirty tan but stained so badly it had yellowed. And he wore no shoes. A scabbard clung to his hip while a marvelous bow and quiver of arrows were crisscrossed on his back. As he neared, she could even

The boy stopped on the other side of the road. Now that she knew what he was, she no longer saw a weak child with delusions of splendor to become a Jestivan … She saw a strong young man hidden beneath the frayed clothes. His arms and legs were toned, his jaw well defined for his age. His freckles seemed like an erroneous mistake of his genetics when plastered against such angled cheekbones. He had also sprouted several inches since she’d last seen him. His gaze fell on her, and there was nothing pleasant about it. No longer did he possess that naïve disposition of an innocuous child. He didn’t

She closed her umbrella and pointed it down at the giant as he reached up with another hand to grab the rest of her body. His current grip was tightening, and she felt her leg muscles starting to give out. If she didn’t finish this within the next five seconds, he’d break every bone in her leg. She did a bit of complex multi-weaving, creating two colliding gravitational forces at once. Both forces hit the giant on opposing sides of his body, essentially sandwiching him between two invisible boulders. He roared, relinquishing the strength of his grip. This mammoth of a man, an edifice of muscle

This was beyond any fairy tales, legends, or myths. The Of Five couldn’t compete with this, and he couldn’t help but think the Originators would have been equally hopeless. The closest comparison, in terms of raw skill, he could think of was the tale of Gatal Accus, First of Five. He’d apparently summoned an unknown rank of Bozani by the name of Magnifica, who proceeded to redirect an incoming meteorite.
“So, he’s a priest of Primmish descent?” Vuilni said. “That doesn’t make sense,” Olivia said. “Agnos was friends with Toono at a young age. They lived in an orphanage in the Archaic Kingdom when Kadlest entered the picture.” “It’s likely Kadlest took him under her wing and converted him,” Fane said. “One thing is certain. She lied about where she had met him.”
It slowed, and the sharp bangs became dull thuds, Toono and Tazama appearing frazzled. It was a tiny teleplatform only big enough to support two people, but made with the purpose of only holding one: Mendac.
Oh. That’s how they’d get through with trickery. TOONO IS A GENIUS.(old)
They will get into the light realm without ayone noticing.(new)
“It’s what they call the people of a specific tribe from my town. We are experts in archery, and many archers of the Intelian military are sent to our village to refine their craft—only the most promising, though. My elders don’t accept average talents.” Bryson’s eyes widened. “That must have been where Simon had gone. He told me he went to the rainforest.”
“I may not be a Jestivan, but I am a royal head,” Vitio said. “Since Shelly was born, I’ve lived my life fearful of death. There are no excuses now. My girls have blossomed into two successful young women, and one has made me a grandfather. I’ve done my job.” He looked down at Bryson with somber yet peaceful eyes. “Now you do yours.”
Will...will Vitio be the sacrifice?(old)
No, dumbarse. Also a great character arc conclusion. Also no.(new)
He stepped forward, dropping his sword in awe. The two rotating leviathans were now smoldering in flame, their entire framework split in half as both sides tilted into the mostly frozen river. “What the hell did that?!” Agnos bellowed, his crew roaring in approval. There had been no warning.
He closed his mouth and recovered his wits. “If you know you’re going to die, then why even do this? It’s over.” Bryson’s breaths came easier as Toono’s grip weakened. Then, the demon … smiled? “You don’t understand, Bryson. There was really only one of two options for the tenth sacrifice all along. It was either you …” He paused, tears now spilling out of him as he reached up toward his head. “Or me.” A cluster of sparks emitted from his fingers—the fingers of an Archain man—and burned the bandage.
This sorrow came from within, rooted in betrayal. Years of hard work and life-threatening missions had just amounted to nothing. This hadn’t been the plan. After Mendac’s rebirth, Toono and Kadlest were supposed to capture, torture, and expose him.
Kadlest lied to Toono. He would avenge her, but she didn't wabt that. She is the genius behind the genius.
“First of all, I think you can,” Neeko said. “Secondly, this language is nothing like those you saw in my personal collection, which are written in dialects not just before our timeline, but long before that, too.” Toono’s eyebrows climbed his forehead at that revelation. How long ago was he talking about? A twinkle burst from Neeko’s eyes. “Languages older than the Thunder Queen herself—a woman you’ll come to learn a little bit about by reading this.” He pushed the book across the desk. “But, just in case you can’t actually read it, I present to you your first gift.” He removed his circular
