God was not the cause of Job’s torment, however. Sin was not the source of his pain. Job remained righteous throughout the ordeal. The evil one caused his grief, loss, and misery, Job did not reap what he sowed. Many aspects of Job’s story are difficult to understand. Scholars debate them to no end!
