These days, most of us take web browsers for granted, so the analogy to lights is apt. We surf the web all the time without thinking about browsers as a technology that had to be created. The same goes for electric lighting, and I think we can learn something about our twenty-first-century efforts with our browser by looking closer at Edison’s nineteenth-century approach to inventing his lightbulb.
