banzai seemed to be the only word I knew that was appropriate. The two characters which make the word up say, “all years,” but the word itself combines the meanings of our English word hooray with the ancient salute to royalty,

“Live forever!” It is a cry of triumph and joy, a word full of hope in the midst of the world’s contrary evidence.
