“The caterpillar!” she said, stepping closer, pulling the wriggling creature off the front of Dani’s dress, Carmen’s hands brushing her collarbones as she pulled away. This time, Dani didn’t have to fake her blush. She was exhausted. Things were starting to slip through the cracks. “When did you name him?” she muttered, trying to draw attention away from her glowing cheeks.
Carmen in clothes was ridiculous enough, but in nothing but her underwear she was, objectively, a work of art. She was all circles and curves, all dark amber and soft edges. Her shoulders flowed effortlessly to an ample chest, her waist thick with hips that demanded notice and a belly that fit like a puzzle piece between them.
But even with her eyes closed, Carmen’s curves pulled on the tide of her blush like a honey moon.
The air between them was charged, and Carmen’s eyes darted down, sending goose bumps across Dani’s skin like a wildfire. Without thinking, for once, Dani stepped closer, so close that her breath stirred Carmen’s hair when she exhaled, and she could see the flickering of the fire in her eyes. What are you doing? asked a shrill voice in her head, but it was a million miles away as Carmen’s breath hitched in her throat and she reached out, brushing a wayward strand of hair out of Dani’s eye where it had fallen as she bent over the flames.
