Consciousness and the Cosmos

According to the Zohar, communication can take place instantaneously across the universe. When we fail to observe this phenomenon, the inability lies within the vessel’s limited capability to reveal it. The instant contact, which exceeds the speed of light, has already taken place.

By the words “to rule,” the Bible means “to manifest or to dominate.”

It is one of many coded passages in the Bible, and it means simply that by the power of God, given to the Israelites in the Great Exodus, people from that day forward would have control over their own lives, should they desire to exercise it.

What one does not “know” is that which one has not come into contact with. “Adam knew Eve, and she conceived and bore Cain.” (Genesis 4:1) How can the mere act of “knowing” create a pregnancy? The Zohar explains this idea simply as the difference between information and knowing: Knowing is the connection.

Obviously, there was an act of physical intercourse, but that is not the point sought by the Zohar, which cites this particular verse in Genesis to illustrate that information only becomes knowledge when direct contact has been made with the information sought.

According to the Zohar, quantum physics does not operate only on the physical plane. The Zohar states that “man is an exact replica of the universe as a whole,” meaning that events occurring within the human body are doing so with energy transfers far greater than the speed of light.

Rav Isaac Luria expanded upon this point of parallel levels and universes in his volume Gates of Reincarnation, declaring that within each individual soul are three different levels: Soul (Neshamah), Spirit (Ruach), and Crude Spirit (Nefesh), and moreover, that there are metaphysical transfers between levels, or wavelengths, which are channels in which a transfer of energy takes place.

This gives rise to a wonderful paradox: Nothing can become revealed unless it first is concealed.

The desire to receive—what kabbalists refer to as the vessel—is an

intelligence.

When Rav Ashlag referred in 1919 to positive-, negative-and central-column concepts as desires, few appreciated how stunningly remarkable his view of reality was. Little did the world of physics then realize how this theory of intelligence, or consciousness of all matter, would bring us closer to the secret of our universe.

Everything was, and is, thought.

Rav Ashlag summed up thought in a word: Desire. He said the power of mind and thought move through innumerable channels consisting mainly of a Desire to Receive, Share, and Restrict.

The meaning of technological advancement is the removal of the physicality of a vessel, gradually bringing it closer to the point at which, in apparent paradox, it would appear that the less the physical material, the more potent the energy flow; in other words, that as the vessel becomes smaller, the amount of energy passing through it increases.

The purer the internal energy of the vessel is, the greater its intelligence.

It requires a conscious effort on the part of the person who first must rid himself of his inborn Desire to Receive for the Self Alone. This is accomplished through prayer and meditation, which may be launched by the beginner as a program of halting all extraneous thought for ten minutes a day as he seeks the multitude of levels of frequencies by which his desire may be accomplished.

Many things called unknown or unknowable by modern man are revealed in the Bible, but we shall deal here only with a few of these through our explanation of the all-pervading energy of intelligence that offers itself to all of us for beneficial connection.

The coding in Genesis tells us that Adam himself may have towered 100 feet tall5 in the metaphysical paradise of Eden where he and Eve reigned in complete obedience to the laws of nature and the universe until the Desire to Receive for Oneself Alone overcame them.

With the Fall, however, their world dwindled, diminishing both in stature and in the Light of Wisdom, until Adam was but a weary farmer

of our accustomed physical proportion, tilling the soil in a field where the once-great dinosaurs now skittered and slither...

The Hebrew word for prayer is tafel, which literally means “secondary, a reflection, the periphery.” Prayer is not central to the issue. Prayers are merely channels, and like a driverless vehicle or a telephone line with no speaker to use it, prayers become a nullity. The business of prayer still remains big business in the modern world of religion, but like its idolatrous root, which turned such stars as Betelgeuse or Altair into gods and put a deity named Apollo into the cockpit of the sun, prayer is a myth.

Prayer, from a kabbalistic point of view, is merely a tapping of energy, just as the aforementioned stars are bottled-up energies in a metaphysical cosmos. Prayer is not an appeal to a higher court; a plea for mercy, justice, or gain. The kabbalist knows the channels that convey the only power worth having, the one that neutralizes the Desire to Receive for the Self Alone. This is the crippler that renders what the religious call “prayer” to little more than empty rhetoric. Pity the man who anchors the destiny of his soul in the shifting, treacherous sands of what men call prayer.
