I was having a hard time finding a reasonable rhythm for my breath. I wanted this person away from me. At the same time I wanted them to come close and declare their question idiotic and take it back. I wanted them to read my mind and tell me I was right to feel this way and then suddenly present me a legally binding document by which they could swear they’d never ever hurt me again.
