The GPS knows only what it knows, and is blind to solutions outside its frame of reference. It is completely unaware of the existence of public transport, and so will suggest that I drive into central London at eight o’clock in the morning, a journey only a lunatic would undertake. By contrast, my Transport for London app is completely unaware of the invention of the automobile.
