A lovely bloke like Simeon deserves so much more than I can give. I should just ignore him and let whatever we have going on fizzle out. History shows that my relationships never turn out well. I’m not great at letting people close and, sooner or later, they always discover the hole where my heart should be. It’ll be better for everyone if I just walk away before either of us gets hurt. A little pain now is better than being ripped apart when it all goes wrong later.
We both know this sentiment is not true but I grasp at it like a drowning man flails at a passing stick.
