Don’t give up too soon.
Try to keep in touch with each person you’ve Reached Out to and gotten a Response One (“Thanks for the gifts”) that turned into a conversation or a Response Two (“Thanks for the gifts; happy to help with your favor”) about every six months.
The best way to remember to keep in touch with Targets is to put a note on your calendar for six months after your last email in the chain.

Deciding you will do a Reach Out every workday will help you quit “arguing” with yourself about whether today is the day, or tomorrow is—it will just become an automatic habit.
Outs using a free service such as Boomerang for Gmail. (Boomerang also has cool features such as Respondable, which can tell you how likely your email is to get a response by looking at the subject length, word count, question count, and more of each email you send.)
