People wonder if we’re sacrificing something irreplaceable, perhaps even changing the human condition, as we become increasingly obsessed with speed and productivity. I don’t worry about it because we are simply doing what we’ve always done, what we were probably born to do. We wax nostalgic, but our actions betray us. How many people above the age of thirteen in America do not have a cell phone? Practically no one. As long as we exist, humans will continue to embrace whatever inventions and innovations offer us the most speed and convenience. You’re not going to lose your soul if you do this.
