It was hard finding a balance between work and marriage. There are women who work incredible hours and then come home and cook and nurture their families. I wasn’t one of those women. I think that became an issue with Marty too. It’s not that Marty had been coddled, but his mother took care of him and his dad. Maybe as a man he wanted to be taken care of. But the fact is that he worked four or five hours a day. My feeling was, if I am doing all this to support your writing, you shouldn’t have a problem cooking dinner or doing a load of laundry.
