In real everyday terms, the way we talk to ourselves and others instantly shapes how we perceive life, and that same perception directly impacts our behavior right there in the moment.
Face your problems as they come, one by one; give them the attention they need and move on.
It’s up to us to slow down, take a step back, and understand what’s really going on.
It’s not always pretty. It’s not always fun but you’ve got this.
“In any moment of decision, the best thing you can do is the right thing, the next best thing is the wrong thing, and the worst thing you can do is nothing.” - Theodore Roosevelt
“Inaction breeds doubt and fear. Action breeds confidence and courage. If you want to conquer fear, do not sit home and think about it. Go out and get busy.”
I like what Dale says here. When we choose action instead of inaction, when we act beyond our automatic thoughts, something interesting happens: we start to forget about the things that are bothering us.
Change your life by changing your actions. That’s the only way.
“I am not my thoughts; I am what I do.” That’s your newest personal assertion, the phrase that sums it all up.
It’s much more powerful to come to terms with life’s unpredictability and to engage with your circumstances for what they actually are than get bogged down by your refusal to let go of unnecessary or unproductive expectations.
“I expect nothing and accept everything.”
If there’s something you want, how about asking for it with no expectation? And when you do something positive or generous, do it because you genuinely want to rather than loading in the added weight of what you expect in return.
EXPECTING NOTHING, ACCEPTING EVERYTHING
Remember, no one can save you, no one can shift you, all of that is your responsibility
“You are what you do, not what you say you’ll do.” - Carl Jung
You are not your thoughts. You are your actions. You are what you do.
