Mechanisms of Despair

You can't help but feel a modicum of sympathy for this strange, and disturbed creature. You understand that the foundations of this place were built upon neglect, and whilst your family created memories in this very room, Sammy's were being destroyed in the darkness below. You imagine his young mind, craving attention, wondering why his father burned him as punishment. In many ways, they were the Doctor Frankenstein's of this tale, and you were left to deal with the monster.
