After I clarified this architecture for myself, leading became in many ways much easier. I could show the engineering team a vision of where we would go as a technology platform, not just what the product roadmap looked like. I had ideas about things we could work on that would directly move the company forward, beyond making the technology work. The architecture led the technology’s organizational strategy, which ended up leading some of the company’s organizational strategy — something I was quite proud of being able to influence.
