The first time that you try to stand in the snow it’s not only going to feel cold, it’s going to hurt. Even though it won’t hurt any more than, say, a 5-mile run, or hitting the gym to lift weights if you’re severely out of shape, the sense of fear that comes from the cold reaches down into some dark primordial core inside every one of us.
