What I know is this: Numbers are shifty things. They rarely tell the whole story.

it strikes me how sad it is, the way a relationship can be so unexpectedly fragile.

This brand of kindness, this closing of the circle around me, it’s more than just love. It’s a kind of luck too, to have these people in my life.

There’s a space between forgetting and moving on, and it’s not easy to find.
