Unprocessed trauma. The holocaust was unimaginable trauma that was never processed and when trauma is not processed it is repeated. In this case identification with the aggressor. How could it have been processed. There is no simple answer to this- when a whole culture had been traumatized. But we as human beings need to discuss and figure it out- because this is unacceptable!
