Among these émigrés was Noyce himself, who teamed up in 1968 with another Fairchild cofounder, Gordon Moore of Moore's law, to found a company they called Intel, short for "integrated electronics" (fortunately for posterity, they rejected other candidate names such as Elcal, for Electronics of California, and Ectek, for Electronic Computer Technology).
