He finds that the greatest luxury that his wealth has afforded him is the luxury to turn inward. To devote his time and his energies toward tasting the nectar of life.
The irony is that once a man achieves Atmamun, he is able to enjoy his possessions infinitely more. He is able to perform his craft at an exponential level. He is able to truly enjoy the relationships that are valuable to him, and deftly handle those that are not.
Do not pay heed to those who ask you to give it all away and live in poverty. For attachment to poverty is just as imprisoning as an attachment to wealth.
Understand that every holy man was once a wretched man. Every man of wisdom was once a man of ignorance. And he lived so consistently with ignorance that one day the ignorance became so unbearable it was time to let it go.
To become the human being you’ve always wanted to be, you must be willing to walk away from the human being you’ve become.
How can a man be willing to lose everything? When he realizes that all that he has is not what he has truly been seeking. And when he realizes this, it immediately becomes okay to lose it. Just for that one chance to acquire what his heart has always wanted. Just for that one chance to become the human being you’ve always wanted to be.
