At the end of the study, however, 67% of those who’d attended AA for 27 weeks or more in their first year were abstinent. Those who attended for over 52 weeks during years four through eight were nearly twice as likely to stay sober than those who went less often—with 71% of the frequent attenders achieving abstinence, compared to 39% for the others.
