One study, for example, included over 200 workers mandated by their employers to get help who were randomized to AA, hospital-based treatment, or a choice of treatment. The AA-mandated group fared worst, with 63% later requiring additional treatment, compared to 38% for the choice group and 23% for the hospital group.
