And yet we are so afraid of losing this form. It seems to be part of being human to be afraid of death. There is nothing to be afraid of; it’s just like going into the next room. The manner of dying may be painful, or perhaps people are afraid of losing the idea of self – they may think it means annihilation. I sometimes wonder if it’s not fear of death, but fear of birth which is the problem. Birth is a very traumatic experience – as I remember myself. An innate memory may be there, that death leads to birth, which creates fear.
