It feels so fucking good that, for a moment, I truly wonder if I am going to die.
There is something utterly satisfying about taking Mac out as her guy.
My back hurts from purposely dancing badly to help her again,
God, she is delicious—the sweet tartness of margaritas mixed with pure Ivy Mac.
her simple hold grounds me in a way I haven’t felt in years, if ever.
Gray is in pain, and that is unacceptable.
His fingers are curled into a fist, but the moment I touch him, he opens his hand, turning his palm upward to clasp my own.
“Hey,” I whisper. “What kind of shoes do spies wear?” At first I don’t think he’s heard me, then Gray’s lips twitch. “Don’t know.” “Sneakers.”
He has a gorgeous laugh, booming and infectious. And right now, it’s the best sound in the world.
I will always defend you, Ivy,
“You are the strongest man I know.”
“Ivy, I’m sorry to dump on you like this.” “Stop.” I cup his cheek, letting my palm warm him. “I asked you to tell me. I’m your girl, right?”
“I’m not letting you go, Ivy Mac. In case I wasn’t clear before.”
“I’m so fucking glad I borrowed your car,” he chokes out, his hand gripping my calf, rubbing it as if I’m precious. “The thought of you not being in my life tears me up. I… You are the happiness I never realized I needed.”
I love Gray Grayson more than I ever thought possible. I’m through being afraid of this. I’m all in now. I’m his girl for as long as I can be.
Ivy is peace and warmth and hope, and I find myself holding on tight, afraid that if she lets me go I’ll be in a free fall once again.
The Book of Ivy and Gray.
Is there a reason you’re texting me when we’re in the same bed? GrayG: To test out my new phone. And so I can see that little smile you make when you read them. Have you always smiled like that over my texts? IvyMac: Always, Cupcake.
“Now, Mac, we’re going to have problems if you can’t tell the difference between a nut and a pussy.
“Sexy doesn’t have an expiration date, Cupcake.”
He’s so freaking gorgeous, he takes my breath.
“I trust you more than anyone in the world.”
“That sounds more like your fantasy than mine, Mac.” A small smile pulls at his mouth as he rests his head on his hand and leans in. “I feel so cheap and used.” “Mmm…poor baby.”
I love that he says our bed
I get hotter from just kissing you than any sex I’ve had before.”
“Ivy Mac, you couldn’t be a disappointment if you tried.”
“If you think you can treat me like any other intern, I’m happy to work with you.” “Oh, well, thank you for that,” he says dryly. Then he laughs. “Get ready for hell.”
GrayG: Not crazy. You’re my girl. So proud of you, Special Sauce.
He’s treating me like a stranger. Like he’s Gray but Not Gray.
He’s no longer Not Gray, but my Gray, looking at me as if I’m beautiful, as if I’m his world.
“You gave me my fantasy.”
“You take care of everybody. But who takes care of you? That’s what you want, isn’t it? To be cared for.” My palm smooths down his cheek as he stares at me with wide eyes. “That’s my job now, Gray. I’m always going to be the one there for you.”
“It means I’ll fight for every inch of you. That I love every inch of you.”
“I love you too.” The corners of his eyes crinkle. “Yeah?” Standing on my toes, I softly kiss his forehead, his cheeks, eyes, his smiling mouth. “Every inch, Cupcake.”
“You have to understand—” “I do,” I cut in. “Doesn’t make it right.”
I cry myself dry in the car where it all began.
I need to find the one person I want to be my family. Ivy.
And because I’ll do anything for her, I obey.
“Say something,” I whisper past the lump in my throat. “Something,” she repeats, equally quiet.
You’re in pain, Gray. And it hurts me when you hurt. So, no, I’m not going to scream at you now. I never want to be the one to kick you when you’re down.”
it hurts worse knowing that I’m the cause of her pain.
The funny thing is, Ivy, falling in love with you was as easy as breathing. The best time of my life.”
Her dark eyes meet mine, and all I can think is home.
Nothing in the world affects me like her smile.
She’s everything. My world. My happiness.
But no, I take one look at your dick and become a moron.”
“Ivy Mac, if you say another word of apology, I’m going to be pissed.”
“It’s your body. Your choice. Isn’t it?”
“Mac, you’re the love of my life. I’m all in, come what may.
“Exactly. Ivy’s my girl. She always will be.”
