“You screamed my name so loud my ears are still ringing.”
“You still smell like sex.” He pushes his erection into my lower belly. “Like me. And that shirt looks absolutely amazing on you.”
Mr. Knight told me that he didn’t get where he is today without taking risks. And she is a risk I’m willing to take.
You couldn’t even imagine my surprise when I saw her walk into her dad’s office wearing my shirt. I wanted to bend her over her father’s desk and take her right then and there once again.
“So, just how much do you remember from that night?” I ask, dropping her bag to the floor in the entryway. She gives me a sexy smile as she pushes her white glasses to the top of her head. “Some parts are still fuzzy.” I have a feeling she’s playing with me, but I’ll play along. I walk up to her and place my hands on her hips. “Then let me remind you, sweetheart.”
“I choose you, Tabatha. You’re better than any dream I have ever had. Because you are real. You’re right here in front of me.”
If you give me an ultimatum, I will pick her. ‘Cause to me, she’s worth more than some plastic and a track.”
“Thought you would get lucky,” I ask. He shakes his head. “I already got lucky.” “Jesus,” my father says shaking his head. “You two are going to be the death of me.”
“You’re beautiful, Tabatha.” His words are spoken softly, and his hand comes up to wipe the tear from my cheek. “But you’re not the girl who is going to change Dash’s ways.”
“I thought us being apart would be best for me. That it would give me a chance to find myself. But I realize that I’m at my best when I’m with you. I feel strong when you hold my hand. I feel loved when you cuddle with me. I love the way you make me feel about myself. Not what you try to make me be.”
“A child knows when they are not wanted,”
She reminds me what it’s like to be wanted. To be important. To be loved.
“Nothing in this world compares to touching you. Winning that race was all I ever wanted. Until you.”
“He left me,” I cry. “How could he leave me?”
I do believe that Dash was my soul mate—the one person in this world for me. Now I have to face this world alone with a broken heart.
This could have saved his life. This one thing could have made our dreams come true.
I had to be strong; I had to survive because Dash wasn’t dead after all. A part of him was going to live on and I was going to be a mom. A mom to his child.
