Respect life as those do who desire it.

It is a sin to cause suffering to others and it is a sin to cause suffering to yourself.

What does this mean? It was useless to cry, there was no sense in crying just then. It was not the right occasion, nothing

you have not, then meditation is a way to have such a realization. Try to immerse yourself in meditation in such a way that you are not even aware of meditation, that you do not even have the idea that you are meditating – not even the thought remains that you are meditating on something or someone – and you become so blissful that the concept of duality vanishes.

Just try making someone unhappy and you will also become unhappy. And the reverse is also true.

We too are nothing more than waves. In this world everything is a wave. A tree is a wave, a bird is a wave, a stone is a wave and so too is man. If all are waves in the same ocean, then this leads us to a very far-reaching conclusion. And that conclusion is in this sutra:

Do not think that the bad man is bad and you are good, because the bad man is also connected with you. And the truth is that if the bad man were banished from this world, that very same day the good man would also disappear.

How can the saint live without the devil? Have you ever thought about it? The godly lives side by side with the ungodly; they are two faces of the same coin. The man who is good, who is a nice man, a religious, pious man, only exists because of the irreligious; he cannot exist without the irreligious.

Real knowledge is not the opposite of ignorance; it is actually a transcendence of both knowledge and ignorance.

This then means... Gurdjieff used to say that the more emphasis you put on having a good character, the more incentive you are giving to the bad character to grow. This seems a little difficult to understand, but Gurdjieff is right in what he says, because the proportion of both will always remain constant. That is why the more morality there is in the world, the more immorality there is.

But a husband and a wife are as far away from each other as anyone can be. The distance never disappears.

because to condemn the other is to condemn himself. He does not single someone out for praise, because all praise is self-praise. Such a person is able to step aside and see life beyond the struggle between praise and condemnation. Only then one attains to the state of being a witness.

If there is some evil in your life, make use of it. There is no need to be afraid of it; make use of it.

and by saying it they can criticize you and put you down. It is a way of dominating one another.

There is a saying in China that after a master musician has attained to the supreme music, he breaks his musical instrument and throws it away. It is true. Those who said it must have spoken from a very deep understanding – because even the strings of a musical instrument create excitement. And when someone has attained to the supreme music, even the strings of the instrument become a hindrance to his music. Then he breaks it, throws it away, and he begins to listen to that music which is ever-present, which does not have to be created, which is resonating all around us – there is no moment when it is not there.

only prepare yourself, so that if the eternal wants to enter, you do not create any hindrance. Only keep the door open so that the eternal does not knock and find the door closed, so that the divine does not come looking for you and find you not at home; so that it does not find you have gone out somewhere and no one knows of your whereabouts.
