“What if it’s because of him? What if he was fucking that bitch or something?”
You’re the one always telling me how every man cheats. Show me a beautiful woman and I’ll show you a man tired of fucking her, right?”
Denny is a man, right? With a dick. Why, ‘cause she was thicker or not all glamorous? That shit don’t matter! Maybe he likes different shit. Maybe I’m the girl he wants at home and she’s the kind he wants when he out in the streets! Like Kanye said… ‘I can have me a good girl and still be addicted to hood rats!’”
“Him being a man ain’t got shit to do with it. Stop quoting rap songs as examples of your real life relationship and just shut the fuck up and listen for a minute, Neeki!
You brought them niggas to me, you vouched for ‘em… you take they L if they can’t come up wit’ that bread after you put them niggas in the fuckin’ Hudson.”
Being the man on top wasn’t always pretty, but the job wasn’t for a pretty mothafucka.
“He’s not a drug dealer. He’s the drug dealer. Get familiar.”
Neeka seemed to have a glow of virtue to her that Brianna and mostly all of the girls her age had long ago lost.
“Why your friend being so hostile? She’s too beautiful to be so cruel.”
Boys had been approaching her since she had Skittles for titties, and she’d mastered gracefully declining. But this man was overpowering. Yet his persistence was compelling.
“You not from around here are you?” “Why? No, let me guess…‘cause if I was then I wouldn’t be turning you down, right?” She quipped.
His pride and preservation of reputation told him to move on, but like a moth… he was drawn to the fire of her.
“I think I finally found somebody to help me spend my money.”
“Why you so determined to get to know me?” “And why you so determined to get in the way of it?”
A man like D Rock could probably promise you the sun and you’d believe he could bring it to you.
“Look… just give me one date… One date and if you still feel the same then I’ll know.” “Know what?” “That now’s not the right time.”
God damn she was beautiful.
You looking at the future Mrs. Graham over there and don’t even know it.”
I guess the deeper in love we fall the scarier the thought of that love leaving us becomes.
Baby, I’m not fuckin’ stupid. I’m not the nigga that gets the girl everybody wants and forgets she’s the girl that everybody wants. Trust me… I know what I have.”
“I can’t even believe the way I let you get in my head… and you got me here when I need to be out there… finding out what the fuck happened. That’s what I came back for. What the fuck did I come back for if I wasn’t going to be finding out who did this to you?”
“You get in my head, Neek… It’s not good. I do whatever you say. Sometimes… sometimes you just gotta let me do what I have to. But you get in my head… you get in my fuckin’ head,”
“I keep you sane, baby. I keep you here… with me.”
“I can’t leave you,” I assured him. “I am you.” And I meant it.
“Yeah well, as you can see I’m not like most women and I’m very punctual.”
“You have a dirty mouth,” she told him with a chuckle. “I’ll try to watch that.” “No…” Neeka leaned into him in flirt mode. “It’s fucking amazing.”
“So everything is God’s will? Even the decisions we make ourselves?” “Yes,” he told her. “Everything that we think we are deciding has been decided for us.”
But hypothetically… let’s say you didn’t… you still have to look at the broader picture. If you didn’t do those things you may not be here, in this restaurant with me now… but this may not be a significant moment in God’s master plan of our lives. But us meeting, I’m almost positive is. So… we would have crossed paths in one way or another.”
“You gonna throw my paper heart in the trash?”
“Cum for me, Neeki… Bust that sweet nut on my face, love.”
“Shit, Neeki… Take… take it…”He manages. “Ohhhh! Yes, Daddy! Fuck your soul into me, baby! Fuck your soul into me…”
“Oh, Neeki, chill! He didn’t get mad at you for smashing up his shit and he laid a nigga out for disrespectin’ you… Sounds like a good fuckin’ night!”
“…I was a little disappointed in myself that I was forced to display a certain type of behavior to you so soon. I didn’t want you to have to see that side of me until you were deep in, too in love with me to turn back, if you ever had to see it at all.”
“In love with you? You banking on that happening?” “I’m not banking on anything. I’m making that happen. There’s a difference.”
“Let me explain something to you. I’m not some fuckin’ animal, Neeki. I’d never put a finger on you. I’ll never hurt you and I’ll never let anyone else hurt you. I ride for me and mine, you understand? If anyone tries to bring you harm, I will bring them harm. If anyone tries to bring you pain, I will bring them pain. That’s how I was built and that’s how I’ll remain. Do you understand where I’m coming from?”
“I gotta get used to you. I gotta watch my fuckin’ mouth,”
“I need you to let me know, like… when I’m about to fuck this up.”
“Like… if I’m doing something wrong, and you like… not feeling it. Or if I’m heading in the direction of fucking up… let me know, alright? Don’t just wait til’ you like fuck it and get ghost on a nigga, you feel me?”
“If you getting tired of a nigga… Gimme a heads up and I’ll disappear for a few weeks,” he grinned. “Give you time to miss me, you dig?”
D Rock had made up his mind. He couldn’t control her past but he damn sure could control her future. Neeka would not be with another man from this day forward. She would be his wife when she was ready for that, they would grow old together, he would die first, and she would die a day later.
“I’m not ready to give you any pussy, yet,” she whispered, not even recognizing her own words… not even recognizing her own voice. It was like she was drunk without having consumed a drop of alcohol.
“I’m gonna do anything you want me to… and you’re never gonna wanna leave me. And I’m never gonna leave you,”
“I got into you, ma. That’s the spirit of D Rock invoking you… be crazy with me.”
That girl wanted black dick more than she wanted Neeka’s friendship. He’d seen it when she’d spoken her first word to him.
“I’m not crazy, Denny… I’m not you.”
“Oh…” She doubled back. “…and then I’ll have my boyfriend come and put a bullet in ya trick ass.”
