You can’t hide things from her, Theo. When she finds out, she’ll lose her trust in you.”
God, come for your world.
Cause you’re my Teddy. And you hold my heart.”
Underneath, I wore one of Theo’s oversized button-ups, my new black Versace heels, red panties and nothing else.
“Curiosity, Carmen.” The very thing that killed the cat.
And it hurts my feelings that you think I’d betray you after all these years, Theo.”
“I know how I’m perceived. My personality naturally gives off a flirty vibe, and it always has. But I swear to you, I’ve never given another man the impression I was interested. I only want you.”
This. This is why no matter how many years pass or how many miles apart. I will never. Ever. Leave Carmen Reyes alone.
Carmen Reyes liked the build.
“Tell me you want me,” she commanded. I growled. “I want you so fucking bad it hurts.”
Not when I knew just how badly good intentions could blow back.
“Señor… Quiero pedirle suo…mano en matrimonio”
“Sí. Suo mano. Para casarme.”
“You don’t need to feel pressure to ask me,” he said, switching back to English. “I haven’t been much of a father to her in a while.” I shook my head. “That’s not true, sir. You’re still her dad. And she loves you.” He grew quiet.

I blew out a long breath and turned on my heel with a stomp. “Fine!” Before I could get two steps away, his hand shot out and caught my waist, pulling me into his chest. His lips dipped to my ear. “Fix that attitude before I fix it for you,” he growled. Goosebumps. “Please fix it,”
“Last Thanksgiving,” Vince went on. “We had a staff party. He and Guila left together.” “Guila?” the name cracked in my throat. “The receptionist,” he explained. “That’s why she’s so cold to you. Everyone in the office knows, but we’re not allowed to talk about it. Especially with you here.”
But I decided to keep it a secret, and secrets hurt.
And the moment someone else holds them, they become weapons for those people to use against the ones you’re supposed to protect.
“You’ve created a weakness in me, Theodore,” I whispered.
you. I’m not looking for someone to take care of me, Theo. I’ve been doing just fine on my own. Being in a relationship doesn’t mean I should give up my freedom or my body, especially when I’m not ready to.
