Rayford’s faith in Amanda had been restored, and he had never doubted her salvation. Even when he had been forced to wonder about how she had come to him in the first place, he never questioned the genuineness of her devotion to God.

This is gross. Her only value is in fealty. And Jenkins takes every chance he gets to describe a corpse.

Also, I feel like he was questioning his salvation, was he not? Otherwise, why is he crying from relief?

That’s a good point. My head cannon is that Rayford is the kind of guy who’d value not being cucked more than his wife’s actual life. And then he’s call his priorities “classical” or something.
