No relationship in the world can be compared with the Guru-disciple relationship. All ordinary, worldly relationships give us pleasure and happiness. But they can never give us the wisdom of the Self. All relationships are ties which subtly fetter and bind the soul. Even the best and healthiest human relationships bring pain, misunderstanding, and conflict that often go unresolved.
