If he had a valid reason other than the fact that the man put steak sauce on his steak,
While she worried about Menace, I never gave a fuck. Who the fuck died and made him in charge of who I wanted to be with? Menace kidnapped his fucking wife and fell in love with her. The nigga wasn’t qualified to set any rules on who could and couldn’t be together.
With Stevie, I watched how he was and took notes. He cared for and loved her, and he wanted to spoil her. Make her life easier because it had been complicated thus far. He was a Menace to the world, but a saint to her.
I learned if I had to second guess anything, then that meant it wasn’t meant to be.
“I tune people out and have been doing it since I was a child. It has always been easy for me to become lost in a book, especially when it’s a good book.” “What you reading?” “Block Wives of Atlanta by Sevyn McCray.”
“Our mothers had this deal with each other. If they both had girls, then they would name us the other's favorite color. It’s a joke within the family that we all laugh about.”
“Sometimes losing people isn’t that bad. It propels us to where we need to be. People can hold us back without us even realizing the shit.”
If the nigga was so concerned with his woman getting out of another man’s car, he should have been downstairs addressing the shit with me.
she was smiling with her face. Her eyes told another story.
Ignoring things until they no longer hurt was my specialty. I liked living by the out of sight and mind philosophy.
Corleon sent me a few leads for some shit we were working on with Goon and his brother.
Menace wasn’t forgiving, so if you were gonna burn a bridge with him, you needed to know how to swim.
Not once did she mention she was engaged or even fucking dating somebody.
I’ve always believed that things would happen the way they were supposed to.
It was the fact that she sat in my face and lied to me. All she had to do was be honest, and she lied to me.
I could see the way he kept giving me warnings to get out of his space. Allowing me the chance to change my mind because he didn’t want to put his hands on me.
We’re all anxious waiting for baby Caselli to come. Are you excited to be an uncle?”
“So, basically fuck me, my wife, and our baby?” I heard my brother’s voice behind me and saw him walking down toward us.
She was his comfort.
“Navy, I ain’t seen you in a minute.” Navy’s head shot up confused. “I’ve never been here.” Menace looked at her. “She said she gonna rob this fucking house, Wonder? We just letting anybody up in this bitch now, huh? Fuck security clearance and safety now, right?”
Me and Kora both started laughing as we watched Greene explain how her boss was a fucking nut that heard questions no one else heard.
“Listen, I don’t want any problems. Greene dragged me here because Stevie loves my videos.”
Get you a sweet girl like Navy.”
Navy tried to busy herself with fixing her dress and looking out at the pool now that it was just the two of us left.
“I said if it was meant for me to see you again, then I would.”
“Did Greene tell you or did you go home to your huge mansion and google little ol’ me?” she teased.
Navy slipped into the seat like she had a few nights before. I couldn’t front like we didn’t look good together. She fit perfectly right next to me, as if she was always meant to be there.
Only Navy knew what was best for her when it came to her relationship with her ex-boyfriend.
She dropped her shoulders. “I don’t want children.”
“When is your birthday?” “June fifteenth.” Navy nearly launched herself through the closed roof when I told her my birthday. “I’m June seventeenth… are you being serious?” “I am.” “See, I knew there was a reason we were locked in with each other. Real recognizes real.”
I swiped up on her kindle and she tried to grab it from me. “Nah, don’t be shy now… what you be reading about?” “Fucking,” she blurted.
I just like some spicy shit.” “Same.” “You like to read spicy books, too?” I looked up from the book she happened to be reading.
“Nah, I like to do the spicy shit that you be reading about in books.”
It was very much one sided when it came to Antwan and our dreams. My dreams never mattered because the goal was for him to play for the pros.
It was one thing for me to end things because I knew we were growing apart, but for him to end things because I got out of Landon’s car, hurt because he knew me.
Greene blew out a sigh of relief. “Good. Antwan’s loss… Don’s gain.”
“Oh please, Greene.” “Don?” my mother managed to hear that. “My boss’s brother, who, by the way, is a billionaire.” My mother flicked her cigarette and then stomped it out. “Billions mean nothing if he’s not a good man.”
“Landon isn’t thinking about me. Bye, Greene!”
“Don’t know him enough to even like him. He is a nice guy, but everyone is until they’re not.”
When expectations are set, there is never any room for miscommunication.”
My family raised me to stand for things that I believe in, and that has been what I’ve done and will continued to do so.
What hurt the most was how he went right to Mila Rose, the one person I couldn’t stand.
God made us uncomfortable, disconnected and confused before he told us to walk away.
She took matters into her own hands.
Don fell in beside Beans as they watched Navy singing her heart out.
They weren’t the most affectionate family, and it made me sad.
Stevie was the glue.
She was transparent with me without even knowing me. She let me into her relationship and made me a safe space before I even knew anything about her.
“Cry on my shoulder… burden me with your tears because I can tell it’s not something you do often. Allow me to hold you because you don’t want anyone else to hold you. Give me that.”
“This friendship can’t work if we can’t pour into each other, Don.”
