Cheaney, also known as Joseph Cheaney & Sons, is a shoe company based in Northamptonshire, England that has been making shoes since 1886. The company is known for its commitment to traditional craftsmanship and combining heritage with innovation. Cheaney shoes are made in their red brick Victorian factory in the village of Desborough, located on the outskirts of Northampton. The eight-week process of making Cheaney shoes takes place entirely in the factory, from pattern design to leather cutting and polishing Joseph Cheaney, a cobbler who was previously the factory manager at a nearby shoemaker, founded the company in 1886. For the first 80 years of business, Cheaney made shoes for other retailers, but in 1967 they launched their own brand, Cheaney of England. In 2009, cousins Jonathan and William Church bought Cheaney from Church & Co.. Their family has been making shoes for five generations.
