“These are the gifts of God for the people of God. Take them in remembrance that Christ died for you, and feed on him in your hearts by faith, with thanksgiving.” This is a reminder that we’re not here to sacrifice Christ but to represent his sacrifice. We don’t eat his body with our mouths as much we do with our hearts. We’re also reminded that our faith is part of the Eucharist. Some believe that communion is only valid if the person receiving it has faith in Christ. Others believe it is what it is regardless of personal belief.
