So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; rmale and female he created them.
“Do not look on his appearance or on the height of his stature, because I have rejected him. For the LORD sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, cbut the LORD looks on the heart.”
He estretches out the north over fthe void and hangs the earth on nothing. 8 He gbinds up the waters in his thick clouds, and the cloud is not split open under them. 9 He covers the face of the full moon [2] and hspreads over it his cloud.
By his power he lstilled the sea; by his understanding he shattered mRahab. 13 nBy his wind the heavens were made fair; his hand pierced othe fleeing serpent. 14 Behold, these are but the outskirts of his pways, and how small qa whisper do we hear of him! But the thunder of his power who can understand?”
“I know that you can hdo all things, and that no purpose of yours can be thwarted.
Be gracious to me and hear my prayer!
Who can discern his errors? eDeclare me innocent from fhidden faults. 13 gKeep back your servant also from hpresumptuous sins; let them not have idominion over me!
Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, O LORD, my jrock and my kredeemer.
Offer to God a sacrifice of thanksgiving, [2] and eperform your vows to the Most High, 15 and fcall upon me in the day of trouble; I will gdeliver you, and you shall hglorify me.”
The one who soffers thanksgiving as his sacrifice glorifies me; to one who torders his way rightly I will show the usalvation of God!”
As ra father shows compassion to his children, so the LORD shows compassion pto those who fear him. 14 For he knows our frame; [1] he sremembers that we are dust. 15 As for man, his days are like tgrass; he flourishes like ua flower of the field; 16 for vthe wind passes over it, and wit is gone, and xits place knows it no more. 17 But ythe steadfast love of the LORD is from everlasting to everlasting on pthose who fear him, and his righteousness to zchildren’s children, 18 to those who akeep his covenant and

uPraise the LORD! Praise God in his msanctuary; praise him in nhis mighty heavens! [1] 2 Praise him for his omighty deeds; praise him according to his excellent pgreatness!
Praise him with qtrumpet sound; praise him with rlute and rharp! 4 Praise him with stambourine and sdance; praise him with tstrings and upipe! 5 Praise him with sounding vcymbals; praise him with loud clashing cymbals! 6 Let weverything that has breath praise the LORD! xPraise the LORD!
Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and
those who love it will eat its fruits.
Faithful are dthe wounds of a friend; profuse are the kisses of an enemy.
Whoever prebukes a man will afterward find more favor than qhe who flatters with his tongue.
Whoever utrusts in his own mind is a fool, but he who walks in wisdom will be delivered.
10He who loves money will not be satisfied with money, nor he who loves wealth with his income; this also is vanity. 11When goods increase, they increase who eat them, and what advantage has their owner but to see them with his eyes? 12Sweet is the sleep of a laborer, whether he eats little or much, but the full stomach of the rich will not let him sleep. 13 cThere is a grievous evil that I have seen under the sun: riches were kept by their owner to his hurt, 14and those riches were lost in a bad venture. And he is father of a son, but he has nothing in his hand. 15 dAs he came from his

he shall go again, naked as he came, and shall take nothing for his toil that he may carry away in his hand.
kAnd the haughtiness of man shall be humbled, and the lofty pride of men shall be brought low, and the LORD alone will be exalted in that day.
qStop regarding man rin whose nostrils is breath, for of what account is he?
And the Lord said: “Because uthis people vdraw near with their mouth and honor me with their lips, while their hearts are far from me, and their fear of me is a commandment taught by men, 14 therefore, behold, wI will again do wonderful things with this people, with wonder upon wonder; and xthe wisdom of their wise men shall perish, and the discernment of their discerning men shall be hidden.”
I am the LORD, and there is no other, besides me there is no God; yI equip you, though you do not know me, 6 zthat people may know, from the rising of the sun and from the west, that there is none besides me; I am the LORD, and there is no other.
Who has believed what he has heard from us? [1] And to whom has hthe arm of the LORD been revealed? 2 For he grew up before him like a young plant, iand like a root out of dry ground; jhe had no form or majesty that we should look at him, and no beauty that we should desire him. 3 kHe was despised and rejected [2] by men, a man of sorrows [3] and acquainted with [4] grief; [5] and as one from whom men hide their faces [6] he was despised, and lwe esteemed him not. 4 mSurely he has borne our griefs and carried our

The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately sick; who can understand it?
“I the LORD search the heart jand test the mind, [2] kto give every man according to his ways, according to the fruit of his deeds.”
Heal me, O LORD, and I shall be healed; save me, and I shall be saved, for vyou are my praise.
“Beware of rpracticing your righteousness before other people in order sto be seen by them, for then you will have no reward from your Father who is in heaven. 2 t“Thus, when you give to the needy, sound no trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may ube praised by others. Truly, I say to you, they have vreceived their reward. 3But when you give to the needy, do

not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, 4so that your giving may be in secret. wAnd your Father who sees in secret will reward you.
25But Jesus called them to him and said, h“You know that the rulers of the Gentiles ilord it over them, and their great ones exercise authority over them. 26 jIt shall not be so among you. But whoever would be great among you must be your servant, [3] 27and whoever would be first among you must be your slave, [4] 28even as the Son of Man came not to be served but kto serve, and lto give his life as a ransom for mmany.”
45For even the Son of Man came not to be served but uto serve, and vto give his life as a ransom for wmany.”
“Why xdo you call me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and not do what I tell you? 47 yEveryone who comes to me and hears my words and does them, I will show you what he is like: 48he is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid the foundation on the rock. And when a flood arose, the stream broke against that house and
could not shake it, because it had been well built. [3] 49 zBut the one who hears and does not do them is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation. When the stream broke against it, immediately it fell, and athe ruin of that house was great.”
5And he said to them, “Which of you who has a friend will go to him at midnight and say to him, ‘Friend, lend me three loaves, 6for a friend of mine has arrived on a journey, and I have nothing to set before him’; 7and he will answer from within, ‘Do not bother me; the door is now shut, and my children are with me in bed. I cannot get up and give you anything’? 8I tell you, though he will not get up and give him anything qbecause he is his friend, yet because of his impudence [3] he will rise and give him whatever he needs.
And I tell you, feveryone who acknowledges me before men, the Son of Man also will acknowledge gbefore the angels of God, 9but hthe one who denies me before men iwill be denied gbefore the angels of God.
before the synagogues and pthe rulers and pthe authorities, qdo not be anxious about how you should defend yourself or what you should say, 12 rfor the Holy Spirit will teach you in that very hour what you ought to say.” The Parable of the Rich Fool 13 sSomeone in the crowd said to him, “Teacher, tell my brother to divide the inheritance with me.”
“Take care, and be on your guard against all covetousness, for one’s life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions.”

22And he said to his disciples, f“Therefore I tell you, gdo not be anxious about your life, what you will eat, nor about your body, what you will put on. 23For life is more than food, and the body more
than clothing. 24 hConsider the ravens: they neither sow nor reap, they have neither storehouse nor barn, and yet God feeds them. iOf how much more value are you than the birds!
30For nall the nations of the world seek after these things, and nyour Father knows that you need them. 31Instead, oseek phis [5] kingdom, qand these things will be added to you.
10For mthe Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.”
You search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; and wit is they that bear witness about me, 40yet xyou refuse to come to me that you may have life.
3Jesus, knowing uthat the Father had given all things into his hands, and that vhe had come from God and wwas going back to God, 4rose from supper. He laid aside his outer garments, and taking a towel, xtied it around his waist. 5Then he ypoured water into a basin and began to wash the disciples’ feet and to wipe them with the towel that was wrapped around him.
