“I’m so proud of you, baby,” I whisper, though he can’t hear me over the chatter coming from his friends. And it’s okay because I could sit here and look at him all night if he let me. Which he would. He’d probably like it, too.

“Thank you. For bringing me here.” He delicately lifts my jaw, those dark, starry eyes searching as he presses his lips to mine. “Is it everything you hoped it would be?” Clearly, he’s not talking about the state of Delaware but rather the state of us—Taylor and Huckslee. “No.” Deepening the kiss, I jump up to wrap my legs around his waist, trusting his strength to catch me if I fall. “It’s so much more, baby. So much more.”
