“The man I am isn’t letting you do this alone. You know me better than that.”
“Lord, thank you for today and this food we are about to receive. Thank you for Leerah, as well. She must’ve known I was hungry. Continue to keep your hands around her and Landon. May her days get easier and her nights restful. She deserves that, and I know you can make it happen. Let this food be nourishing to our bodies in Jesus’ name. Amen.”
“I’ve prayed for you since the day I met you.”
Grown men take care of what they love. They take care of the home even if it wasn’t theirs to begin with but made it theirs. If you’re in it for the wrong reasons, I think I’d raised a fool.”
“My thing is this… why would you give me a sample again if I’m not allowed to indulge fully?”
“Of course, Princess. I’m a great swimmer. How deep can I go?”
Cree wasn’t a rebound; he was a reward.
“You’re his godbrother, Cree.” “That’s nothing new. I know this. We know this. Who are you?” “The mother of his child,” Leerah answered, and he shook his head. “No. Who are you to me?” he questioned. Leerah’s eyes misted. “Tell me,” he urged. “Your princess.” “And what do princesses get?” he asked. She wiped the tear on her face. “Anything they want.” “Exactly. So, if you want me, I’m yours. Fuck what anyone else thinks.”
“Can we… go back to testing them?” “No.” Her eyes stretched at the finality in his voice. “We’re not going back to testing anything. I don’ dove head fucking first in the water and you trying to leave me out here by myself.” “But I’m—”
“Find you a life jacket and come get me. I’ll be here waiting for you.”
