“The man I am isn’t letting you do this alone. You know me better than that.” Frustrated with her feelings, Leerah shook her head. “But I don’t need you to.” “It doesn’t matter what you think I need to do. I am. So, tell me how you would like me to show up for you since what I’m doing isn’t to your satisfaction.”
Having a man speak to God about you on his behalf was a different type of love that made Leerah want to cry.
“Is that your first time praying for me?” Cree shook his head. “No.” His answer was swift, leaving no room for Leerah to think otherwise. But then he added more words, lying to rest whatever wild thoughts were running through her mind, replacing them with what-ifs. “I’ve prayed for you since the day I met you.”
“Don’t ask me why again after today. You deserve everything good in this world, and if that’s me, let me be that for now.”
She loved getting a nigga riled up, but this was on a different level.
“For now. Can we … test the waters first?” His gaze softened. “Of course, Princess. I’m a great swimmer. How deep can I go?”
“Girl, please play with somebody else. I been wanting to beat a bitch up all week and you gon’ get lucky.”
“Yes, girl. It is what it is. I’m not worried about little fetus deletus.”
He said a quick prayer over her womb, knowing and believing that one day a life created by the love shared between them would reside there.
“Exactly. So, if you want me, I’m yours. Fuck what anyone else thinks.”
