When life unexpectedly forces you to grieve, sometimes you have to isolate yourself or you’ll lose your mind.
“It doesn’t matter what you think I need to do. I am. So, tell me how you would like me to show up for you since what I’m doing isn’t to your satisfaction.”
“I’ve prayed for you since the day I met you.” Cree’s words would’ve knocked the wind out of her had she been standing because Leerah felt weak. Vulnerable. His words were spoken with the utmost confidence as if he knew that years from when they’d met, she’d need those prayers. It spoke volumes about the type of man Cree was and spoke even louder about his heart. It was pure and golden.
“Don’t ask me why again after today. You deserve everything good in this world, and if that’s me, let me be that for now.”
No longer was she an open book that he could delicately flip the pages of and get lost in—not yet, at least. She was similar to the hardback copy of Hassan by Nina on one of her bookshelves. Leerah was an exclusive edition you only got to experience if luck was on your side.
“No. Who are you to me?” he questioned. Leerah’s eyes misted. “Tell me,” he urged. “Your princess.” “And what do princesses get?” he asked. She wiped the tear on her face. “Anything they want.” “Exactly. So, if you want me, I’m yours. Fuck what anyone else thinks.”
